mourner Vredensdal is one of the most interesting black metal musicians/bands out there, right now. His music is full of aggression and very emotive, even beautiful. This EP is perfect proof for that. Favorite track: Black Winter Nights.

I am usually not a fan of acoustic tracks, but Vredensdal does it so well, it is almost hypnotizing. The entire EP is a showcase of black metal mastery, and in my opinion “Black Winter Nights” is the singular best new black metal song I’ve heard ALL YEAR! If I wasn’t already a diehard fan when Silence Is Eternal came out I definitely am now!! LONG LIVE VREDENSDAL! Favorite track: Post-Industrial Necrofolk.

Jody B. Fantastic black metal. Vredensdal's key strength is consistency, because with every release you know you are going to get quality songwriting, musicianship and production. Along with consistency is growth and progression, because Vredensdal is not shy about experimenting and adding a plethora of influences to his sonic pallette. A release that, while short, does not disappoint and gives us a tantalizing glimpse of what we can expect from Vredensdal in the future. Favorite track: Black Winter Nights.

xenomorph8472 Vredensdal continues to set the standard for music in this genre, with a wide range of instruments being utitilized to their highest and best use: communicating strong emotions, power, and the celebration of darkness. A perfect balance of raw energy and accessible production is met here, in what I believe is one of the best releases of the year Favorite track: Black Winter Nights.

The trickster came and cut off all of Sifs hair In the midst of a warm summer night The morning when I awoke, it was to my woman's scream In a matter of hours all of our crops had died The cattle starved, my wife and children starved And yet somehow I still survived Now I must live with this burden of death And survive alone through black winter nights Though my family is dead, I cannot deny the majesty of the falling snow over my home land Sometimes In the bitter cold wind when gathering firewood I can still hear the laughter of my little ones There is a specific time of day when all the work is done and I sit alone The silence is all that I need, gazing upon a vast and wintry forest landscape But then... the darkness returns Welcome the truth of night The predators come out to play I've hunted for all I could Will the sun rise tomorrow? do I have enough food and shelter? Doubts cloud my mind and my wine turns to piss What is the reason that I survived? I cannot find a reason to stay alive

Within myself I see a tree Built upon the boulders of time Two birds perched in symmetry And a river flowing through its center Here the seasons always change But nothing ever lives or dies Cosmos rotate in patterns And the patterns are infinite We cannot grow together Because I am from the future Only patience can bring The wisdom you seek Sharpen your fangs dulled by misfortune Remember the Smell of fresh blood The deep hunger from an ancient past The time has come to resurrect the wolf Belligerent distaste Does not show your strength Instead focus your hatred on those who focus on waste
